I discovered this amazing new app for the iPhone called Animation Creator. It allows you to create digital animations on your phone with a whole slew of tools. It's got a very cool, painterly look to it also. For my first experiment with the app I made a very limited animation using my illustration of Bob Dylan. You can see it below. I feel like I've just discovered electricity! It's an exciting new format I'm looking forward to exploring.

Disposable Film Festival 2012
In a few weeks I will be presenting and talking about my work at the 2012 Disposable Film Festival in San Francisco. Really looking forward to getting out of NYC for a few days and back to the Golden State! I encourage anyone to attend if they can. It will be an amazing festival!

The Sheik and I Animations
As I mentioned yesterday, I have been busy working on the documentary feature The Sheik and I. It's interesting in that the director wanted to animate a lot of audio that he recorded but didn't have footage for. In a way, the scenes I am animating are a form of "animated documentary" which is something I think I want to explore further on my own. But to give you an example of some of the work I've been doing I am posting this clip, which is a conversation between the director, Caveh Zahedi, and his lawyer.

SXSW 2012
My poor, neglected blog. This is my first post of 2012, but I have good news to share. The feature documentary film The Sheik and I which features my animation has been selected by SXSW in the documentary competition. Very exciting for a number of reasons. First being, this is the first feature film I've ever contributed my animation to. And second, the first feature film that has animation shot entirely with an iPhone (to my knowledge). More info below. If you are in Austin this March please take in a screening!

Frankfurt
Germany was an incredible experience. I got to show my work at the eDIT Festival, meet Bill Plympton and go the amazing film museum in Frankfurt. I also spoke at Darmstadt University which was cool. It reminded me of film school at USC. Here are some pics.
